| An InteFrame Case Study |

Fast and thorough structural framing |

| SUMMARY |
|
Ben and Jelena Petzinger know construction, and when they set out to design and build their own home in Blaine County in central Idaho, they put together a concept for the home and a timeline that they knew would be challenging. Adding in the demands of building in a high mountain location, the Petzingers knew that getting their project off to a good start in the design phase, and getting it framed up quickly would increase their odds of success significantly. Having the one-stop efficiency of the InteFrame process increased their advantage by speeding up the process at the building department.

The Challenge
Ben Petzinger is a project manager for one of the biggest contractors in the Intermountain West, and his wife Jelena has years of experience in the construction industry as well. Ben had been project manager on a very successful project in the Sun Valley area on which Federal Constructors and Idaho Truss had teamed up and delivered a huge building in record time. Given the aggressive goals and the significant demands the Petzingers knew they would face, they wanted to have a proven team of professionals for the critical design and framing stages.
The Solution
The Petzingers came in with a concept for their home that was pretty well developed, but still needed some significant modifications as well as all of the structural engineering work required to build in a high snow load area. Performance Engineers went to work. Any and all redlines that my wife needed were worked out QUICKLY and PROFESSIONALLY. If I had not used InteFrame, I would not have been able to get out of the ground as fast as I did. Ben noted. The building inspector also remarked about the highly effective way the load transfer in the building had been designed. A rare compliment in residential construction. was how Ben characterized that comment.

"There is no question that this project was the fastest and most
thorough structural framing I have seen on a residential home."

The Bottom Line
Once the permit was issued, and construction began, the fact that Performances design work set up the wall and truss design for maximum efficiency allowed Federal Constructors and Idaho Truss to execute at a level rarely seen. Federals crews had the entire 4,208 square foot structure erected and the framing details totally completed in 3.5 days. This job could normally be expected to take three or four weeks with standard site framing! The framing inspection was passed the first time, with no punchlist. Ben summarized by saying I only need one house right now otherwise you would already be working on my next one.
